SNACKS AND FINGER FOODS  IDEAS 8 MONTHS +

1.FRUITS-Banana, strawberry, papaya, apple, mango, watermelon, peach, plums etc all seasonal fruits mashed or slices.

2.Puffed rice.

3.Aval/poha +coconut milk.

4.Egg omelette or poriyal or egg burji or boiled egg.

5.Pancakes.

6. Nuts ladoo(mixed nuts with dates syrup or jaggery syrup)-If planned not to give sweet give plain.

7.Kerala banana fry.

8.Vegetable sticks-STEAMED AND FRIED –carrot, potato, sweet potato, ladies finger, avarakaai/Beans etc.

9.Yoghurt or curd with fruits puree or chopped fruits (Apple, mango, strawberry, banana etc )

10.Vegetable idlis

and dosa-thin slices.


11.Chappathi and stuffed parathas-thin slices.

12.Cutlets-potato,mixed vegetables,carrot, peas.

13.Kuzhi paniyaram-kaaram with vegetables.

Vallarai Keerai Kootu/Brahmi leaves Chutney /OPOS(one pot-one shot)

Brahmi known as vallarai in Tamil is a medicinal herb which has been used for centuries in Traditional Indian (Ayurveda) Medicine. Vallarai keerai (leaves resemble the shape of the human brain) has amazing medicinal properties and has the power to cure many diseases. You can include it in your diet once in a week in the form of thuvaiyal, sambar or kootu. Today we will see how to make vallarai keerai Kootu following this easy One pot recipe. Ingredients: Vallarai Keerai / Brahmi leaves- 2 cups chopped finely Yellow Split Moong Dal / Pasi paruppu – 1/2 cup Tomatoes – 1 large chopped Garlic – 2 fat cloves Turmeric Powder / Manjal Podi – 1 tsp Salt to taste Onion chopped-1 cup. Crunchy Butter Biscuits / Wheat Biscuits

Ingredients: Wheat flour - 1 cup Powdered sugar and Brown sugar - 3/4th cup Butter - 2 tbsp Cardamoms -2 powdered. Milk - as required. Baking powder - 1 pinch. Baking Soda -1 pinch. Method: Mix all ingredients and knead well like chapatti batter. Roll it with a rolling pin and cut it in desired shapes. Kids will love to do that with a cookie cutter or we can use lids. Or simply make small balls and arrange it in a plate with 1 inch gaps. (So that the biscuits have some space to expand) Keep it in the oven at 200C for 35 mins. You will know, when to take it out with its wonderful smell. Healthy, Easy, tasty and crunchy biscuits are ready. You can keep it in the air tight container for weeks!
